| Just this year (2008) the Polaroid Corporation, founded by Edwin H. Land, stopped making Polaroid film. That leaves only a few years before Polaroid film goes the way of the dinosaurs. But in this day and age cells phones are really the Polariods of our time. This photo blog is dedicated to taking Polaroid like photographs on my iPhone.
Shortly after getting an iPhone I discovered the app call ProjectPolaroid that was later renamed Polarize. The Polarize app has made photography on my iPhone bearable. Let's face it a 2 megapixel camera with a lens the size of a pea is not going to give you much. But mix Polarize with an iPhone and it makes it fun. Polarize adds a Polaroid style frame to your photos and simulates the instant color processing that gives Polaroids their charm. It is simple, fast and fun. Polaroids are about imperfections so a simple cell phone camera lends itself to the effect. Polaroids are not about taking perfectly focused images and post process high resolutin images. The inperfections are what makes instant photography so much fun. If you own an iPhone and are interested in taking your own Polaroid style photos check out the Polarize Flickr group for lots of inspiration. You can download the Polarize app from the iTunes App Store. |
